Description:

Abstract:

The 1963 Orthophoto is produced from aerial photographs taken at about 3,900 ft. in January/February of Year 1963 by the Hunting Surveys commissioned by the then Government of Hong Kong. The 1963 Orthophoto covers Kowloon District and all Demarcation Districts (D.D.) of the New Territories except some places, including the border areas, Ping Chau and a few hill tops, where suitable 1963 aerial photographs are not available. It is produced at ground pixel size 0.1m x 0.1m with accuracy equivalent to 1:1,000 scale map. It is supplied on tile basis and each tile is equivalent to the coverage of the corresponding 1:1,000 topographic map tile. Two versions of 1963 Orthophoto are provided, i.e. the plain image version and the grid line version.

Purpose:

The 1963 Orthophoto is able to depict the ground situations in early 1963. With its precision and coverage, the 1963 Orthophoto is suitable for land boundary survey and correlation with the D.D. Sheets.

Access_Constraints:

The Government of the HKSAR is the copyright owner of the digital data, which is available for sale to the public at prescribed charges. The Government will issue a non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to the customer after he/she has purchased the data. The licensee is permitted to use the data from the date as set out in the Licence. The licensee must have obtained written consent from the Government and paid the necessary royalty charges before he/she can incorporate the digital data in any product for distribution to any third party. If the licensee ceases using the digital data, the licensee should confirm to the Government in writing that the data has been erased from his/her computer system. Sample data for testing computer system is available free of charge. Sample data for academics and teaching purpose is  available on request at a nominal administrative fee. The digital data would be provided to other government departments or their consultants free of charge.

Use_Constraints:

The use of the data supplied under the licence shall be subject to the computer configuration, for the purposes and at the location as specified in the Licence Agreement. The digital data can be provided to other government departments and their consultants for internal use and project purpose respectively. Such data shall not be distributed in part or in whole and in whatever forms and media to a third party. The use of digital data is also subject to some conditions which can be obtained upon request.
